Form 940 Definition

Definition
The Employer’s Annual Unemployment Return, required of all businesses with employees earning $1500 or more in a year.

Extended Definition
Employers report their FUTA taxes on Form 940, which is due January 31 of the following year. If the due date falls on a weekend, Form 940 is due on the first Monday after the deadline.
