Child support withholding is an amount deducted from an employee’s disposable earnings to fulfill court-ordered child support.

If an employer receives paperwork regarding child support served to an employee, it is the responsibility of the employer to withhold taxes before paying for child support. Payments for child support should be made on the net pay of the employee and not the gross pay.
