FEIN Meaning

FEIN is an acronym for Federal Employer Identification Number. This is a nine-digit unique number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to businesses operating in the United States.  It is also known as EIN – Employer Identification Number.

Businesses in the United States are identified by their Federal Employer Identification Numbers (FEIN) also known as Employer Identification Numbers (EIN).  There is no fee to apply for this nine-digit number, which is unique for each business.  Information and an application are available on the IRS web site. It is important to note that a business should only have one FEIN. This identification number can be used when filing tax returns as well as for banking and legal matters.
